Few vocalists authentically cross genres at the highest levels and maintain professional careers in both areas - but LIZZY HOYT is one of them!

Praised by Opera Canada for both her dramatic depth and keen comedic gifts, she a rising star in the Canadian classical music scene. Last season included exciting debuts with both MANITOBA OPERA and BROTT OPERA in the title role of Rossini’s LA CENERENTOLA (Cinderella) followed by her return to MANITOBA CHAMBER ORCHESTRA singing Ruggiero in Handel’s, ALCINA with a star-studded cast including Tracy Dahl and Andriana Chuchman. This season, Lizzy sings a solo recital for The Edmonton Recital Society, debuts the role of Testo in Monteverdi’s Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda (Tick Tock Productions), and returns to Edmonton in 2024 for “Bach: Music of Fear and Faith”, a concert of solo cantatas and duets with tenor, John Tessier and the Blue Crown Baroque Ensemble.

A nationally recognized Celtic songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, she won the TRADITIONAL SINGER OF THE YEAR Award at the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards for her album, The Parting Glass. Other awards and nominations include the QUEENS DIAMOND JUBILEE MEDAL, Canadian Folk Music Awards, Western Canadian Folk Music Awards, International Acoustic Music Awards and Independent Music Awards. This fall, she returns to The Nickelodeon Folk Club and Arts on 817 Concert Series.

In addition to five independent albums, Lizzy has released multiple musical film projects, and has given countless concert tours across Canada since transitioning to full-time in 2009. She shares content regularly online through her social media platforms which have received hundreds of thousands of views @LizzyHoytMusic.
